Guest Post: $2 Flower Wreath

I'm excited to be guest posting here. Maggie has been really understanding and awesome. Hope you're having a great time, Maggie!

I prepared a wreath tutorial to share today:

Materials:

Floral wreath from the Dollar Tree

White acrylic paint

Paint Brush

Glue gun

Martha Stewart Hydrangea Punch

Cardstock (I used Core'dinations Glitter Silk, Opulent Opal)

I thought about adding a pink flower I'd already made, but I decided to leave it off

Let's get started!

First paint that green wreath! Paint it whatever color of cardstock you're using. Make sure to paint both sides. Give the first side time to dry before you flip it over. It doesn't have to be perfect but it will show through, so it needs to be fully covered.

Next punch out a BUNCH of hydrangeas. I used 1 and half full pages of cardstock to cover my wreath. Give the flowers a little shape by slightly folding up the petals as seen below:

Use your glue gun to adhere the flowers all over. Try not to burn your fingers too badly.

Customized Play Mat using Spoonflower

Baby

Over at Modern Parents Messy Kids, I found a great idea for making a personalized baby play mat from Spoonflower. Did I mention she included a whole detailed tutorial, too? Well she does! She gives step by step instructions that take you through creating your own fabric and then making your play mat.

Well, I really wanted to attempt this. I just couldn't think of any already born babies. Well, actually I know one, but he's already two months old and I can't tell you how jealous his older sisters would be. So I just scratched that idea. Then I remembered that one of my numerous cousins is currently pregnant with a baby girl. Did I mention I have about 45 or so cousins and around 7 second cousins? Well I do. Too many to count!

Anyway, I don't know when she's due, but I figured I'd just make the circle part of the fabric on Picnik.

Here's my girl-y attempt at her creation:

Just need to wait a few months until the baby is born, find out the information, send it into spoonflower, wait for my fabric, and then sew, sew, sew a lovely little play mat.

Fawnda from Fireflies and Jellybeans also made a lovely girly version.

I can't wait until this baby is born so I can get started :)

The only downside is that this fabric is kind of expensive. Oh, well! As long as none of my other cousins hope for something similar, I'll be fine!

briar.claire

Hair accessories

This post probably should have been posted a long time ago. Like back in April. That was two months ago.... whoops. I was looking through my old posts and saw this draft. It's about time I share :)

Ever seen their stuff? Well, go check it out! briar.claire has got some of the cutest stuff ever! I was lucky enough to win a $50 gift certificate to their etsy shop. I can't tell you how hard it was to pick what I wanted. They sent me an email saying my stuff would be shipped on the 13th. April 13th. Well sure enough, two days later, a little box arrived in the mail. A lot quicker than I expected!

Isn't it so cute? I just had to take a picture of it. My sister was mad because she just couldn't wait to tear it open!

She was not posing to my satisfaction so here's the only one of her wearing them.

Like the Easter decorations in the background? As I said. This post is two months late.

I also got about 4 or 5 other cute little headbands and hair clips. I just didn't take pictures of them. and I lost my camera. and I'm on vacation without my headbands. and so you can just go check them out yourself.
